If you’re a sports fan like me, the next few days can seem like an eternity. The World Cup and NBA Finals are long since over, and the baseball playoffs have not yet started. Thus, we are left with a few long days of waiting for the college football season to arrive.
This year, instead of playing season after season of NCAA ’14 on Dynasty Mode to get me through this time, I’ve decided to make college football previews using Tableau Software.
The University of Oklahoma
The University of Oklahoma will open its season on Saturday with a home game against Louisiana Tech. To celebrate, we at InterWorks have chosen to visualize the top program in college football history using Tableau. We've already covered Oklahoma State, BYU and LSU. Be sure to check those out if you're curious about what some other teams look like in Tableau.
By most measures, including ESPN’s prestige rankings released in 2009, Oklahoma ranks as the top college football program of all time. Consider the following about Oklahoma football:
- They own the FBS record for consecutive wins with a 47-game win streak.
- They have an FBS-best .765 winning percentage since World War II.
- They have won a total of seven (7) national titles and 39 conference championships.
- They have been voted the No. 1 team in the country in the AP poll a record 101 times.
- They have had five Heisman Trophy winners and 75 AP First-Team All-Americans.
In our season preview, we have highlighted the key seasons and players of OU’s illustrious history. We show season-by-season results as well as the program’s all-time leaders. In the preview, you will find three tabs. The first tab has OU’s schedule for the upcoming season. The second tab has OU’s historical results by season and opponent. The third tab contains a list of the all-time statistical leaders in OU’s history along with the major award winners.
