If you’ve used Portals for Tableau’s Data Manager feature, it’s likely you have utilized the Tableau-friendly table in your dashboards. However, there are times when you need to get at the raw data but don’t have or don’t really need direct access to the database. Instead of hounding your go-to IT critter to get that access, we’ve added a button to download the raw data directly from the portal.
To download the data in a Data Manager group, navigate to the specific group by going to Backend > Data Manager > Data Groups > Click on the group. Now, scroll to the bottom to find a Download as CSV button. It’s probably not obvious what will happen next, so I’ll tell you. When you click that button, a CSV document will be downloaded with the raw data from that group like magic. This file can be opened in Microsoft Excel or whatever tool you usually use for comma-separated values. The sky is your limit here.
